Orton - 10th April 2012

On the way home from Scotland we pulled off the motorway and headed towards Kendal for refreshments and a break.  As luck would have it we stumbled across Orton in Cumbria, a beautiful village which just happens to be on the popular coast to coast route for walkers.

The weather was lovely after all the rain we had in Scotland.  And better still we chanced upon the George Hotel and the lovely landlady there.  She had some chips and onion rings made for us and we talked about our trip and the possibilty of staging an event at her pub/hotel and the local farmers' market.

A recommended place to eat and drink. The prices are reasonable and the food is good.

The old Orton Liberal Club erected in 1888.

Orton will probably become a regular stop for us when we are passing.
